Pat, Joyce and Hazel shared some valuable relationship tips. Cook baked a batched of cupcakes which they decorated with messages of love. Hazel and June did a great demonstration on how to flip a pancake.
Our recent sports day fundraiser total exceeded the amount we expected to raise. This meant we were able to purchase extra gifts of a sensory lamp and sweets for the local play group. Here Bex, one of our Activities Co-ordinators, is presenting the digital camera and sensory lamp to the playgroup leader, Kate.
Congratulations go to Ramune Juciene on becoming the Registered Manager at Doveridge. Ramune has the necessary skills and is well qualified for this post. She already holds a QCF Level 5 qualification in Leadership for Health and Social Care in Adults Residential Management. Ramune has considerable experience in her previous roles as Deputy Manager and Acting Manager. We wish Ramune every success in the future.
Shortbread and a wee dram were enjoyed by all after their Burns Night celebration dinner. Sounds of bag pipes, poetry and songs were part of the Burns Night party.
We raised the bar with sessions on how to make our own soap. The scents of roses and lavender brought back wonderful memories during the activity which saw a variety of soaps being made.
We had an armchair travel to America. Hot dogs and doughnuts were washed down with root-beer.
The staff and residents were busy this month raising money for their local Pre- school Caterpillars to raise funds to purchase a digital camera.
Mince pie making was popular with our residents, which were then washed down with a selection of Christmas cocktails.
Peggy celebrated her 90th birthday with a white chocolate and berry birthday cake washed down with her favourite drink… a cup of tea. Peggy enjoyed receiving phone calls from her family and spent time reminiscing about her youth while eating lots of chocolate washed down with …..another cup of tea.
