Art Club

Art Club went all spring-like when the residents made Daffodils from tissue paper. We used the same ideas as before when we made the table decorations, but this time used different shades of yellow and orange. Betty said it was one of the most beautiful things she had ever done, while Jeanne gave advice on where to put all the flowers on the window.   We started our Spring Tree in the lovely dining room window. Jeanne, Mary, Jeff, Val, Jill and Joyce started off by painting a flower of their choice and colouring it in. While we let these dry, we then searched through some old magazines Trevor, our Activity Organiser, had brought in. Everyone chose a picture of food or vegetables to cut out to use in a collage as the backdrop.  We then made a tree trunk and put that on the window, followed by the collage and then the flowers which we had cut out. We will add a few more things to it, but everyone loved the activity and was amazed at how good it looked when we put it all together.

Baking

There was lots of laughter and fun happening during a recent baking session.  Shirley liked to cut the shapes the biscuits out.  Another said they liked baking as it is something like they used to do.  They were very tasty biscuits.

Flexercise classes

Physical exercise, yoga and movement are all part of our regular flexcericse classes.

Valentine’s Day

Cook made some yummy chocolate and strawberry cakes. Shirley enjoyed handing out the homemade cupcakes.

French February

We did an armchair travel to France this month.

Getting crafty

A history of the Scouts included some of our residents testing their skills at knot making.

Oscars

Our residents were treated to an Oscars themed day.

Trips out in the Dove Bug

Some of our ladies enjoyed a trip to the local seaside. The activity team made some snacks and a flask of tea to be enjoyed while they took in the lovely sights and sounds of the sea.

Chinese New Year

We celebrated the year of the Ox by holding a noodle challenge.

Valentines messages and Pancake Day

Pat, Joyce and Hazel shared some valuable relationship tips. Cook baked a batched of cupcakes which they decorated with messages of love. Hazel and June did a great demonstration on how to flip a pancake.
